ASTU inks memorandum of understanding with AMG steel factory. The MOU was signed to forge collaborations between ASTU and AMG steel factory. The areas of collaboration include: capacity building training, providing consultancy service, engaging in joint research and technology transfer works, and facilitating internship programs for ASTU students; among other things.
On the occasion, Dr Lemi Guta, the president of Adama Science and Technology University, underscored that Adama Science and Technology University works with various local and international institutions through its established University industry Linkage Directorate. Dr. Lemi noted that AMG steel factory has a huge potential as one of the exemplary factories in Ethiopia. He noted that both sides can benefit if they collaborate. Dr. Alemu Disasa, Vice President of Research and Technology Transfer, presented a document that highlights the institutional capacity and experiences of Adama Science and Technology University.
Mr. Yosef Mulugeta, representative of AMG, gave explanations about the factory and the areas in which they can work together with ASTU. Mr. Yoseph stated that AMG steel factory, together with its sister companies, currently generates more than 70 million dollars in foreign exchange per year through its products that are exported.
