Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) hosted a validation workshop for the consultancy project titled "Development of Geospatial Database for Manufacturing Industries in Oromia," on August 24, 2023. The project was signed between ASTU and Oromia Investment and Industry Bureau (OIIB) on April 7, 2023. The project aims to develop a geospatial database of manufacturing industries and analyze their existing situation in three urban centers in the Oromia Region: Adama, Mojo, and Bishoftu including Dukem sub-city.
The validation workshop saw the participation of various stakeholders, including regional-level officials from the OIIB, Oromia Land Bureau, and Oromia Construction Bureau, as well as city-level officials and invited guests, who gathered to review and validate the project's completion.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Alemu Disasa, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at ASTU, extended his heartfelt congratulations to both teams from ASTU and OIIB. He acknowledged their tireless efforts in ensuring the success of the project. Additionally, Mr. Wosho Kedir, Deputy Head of the OIIB, emphasized the project's significance and urged relevant bureaus to make all necessary preparations for its implementation.
The project manager, Dr. Dejene Tesema, presented the main findings and discussed the key takeaways of the project as well as the way forward. His comprehensive presentation provided insightful information on the situation of manufacturing industries, the status of their contributions to social development, economic growth, and environmental protection, as well as the level of urban land management in industrial zones in the project areas.
The validation workshop concluded with the presentation of recognition certificates to all individuals who directly or indirectly contributed to the successful completion of this project and whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in achieving the of objectives the project.
In summary, the validation workshop conducted by ASTU served as a platform for stakeholders to validate the progress of the consultancy project. The event showcased the dedication and expertise of the teams involved while also highlighting the project's potential to revolutionize the manufacturing industry in Oromia.
