Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA)

The Vice President for Academic affairs (VPAA) hold leadership responsibilities for the planning, implementation, and coordination of the university's educational programs. The VPAA oversees an office that possesses the following powers and responsibilities:

  •  Lead, develop, implement, and monitor financial and strategic plan that align with the mission and strategic goals of the University;
  •  Provide leadership and strategic direction for academic units;
  •  Supervise the development, approval, and review of curricula;
  • Ensure curricula meet academic standards, align with the mission and strategic goals of the university, and are periodically reviewed and updated to meet market needs; Manage faculty recruitment, retention, promotion, and professional development;
  • Supervise the development and uniform implementation of strategic plan, academic policies, and procedures;
  •  Allocate resources to academic units to excel quality and maintain academic standard;
  •  Build and maintain partnerships with international institutions, industry, and organizations to promote academic exchange, research collaboration, and global engagement;
  •  Oversee the professional development of academic staff through training programs, workshops, and conferences;
  •  Encourage and support academic staff and students in conducting research and publishing their findings;
  • Ensure the availability and proper management of academic resources, including libraries, laboratories, and learning materials;
  •  Oversee the university’s compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements;

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Vice President collaborates closely with Academic Deans, Directors, Executive Officers, other Administrators, and University members. The Academic Vice President is accountable to the President and supervises various Colleges, Coordinators, and Academic Directorates. The academic units under the purview of the Academic Vice President include:

  • College of Applied Natural Sciences
  • College of Civil Engineering and Architecture
  • College of Electrical engineering and Computing
  • College of Humanity and Social Sciences
  • College of Mechanical, Chemical, and Material Engineering
  • Division of Pre-engineering and Freshman Program Coordinator
  • Office of Academic Program Directorate
  • Office of School of Post Graduate Studies
  • Office of Continuing Education Program Directorate
  • Office of Educational Quality Enhancement Directorate
  • Office of Registrar and Alumni Executive
  • Office of e-Learning Administration Directorate
  • Office of Students’ Skill Development Coordinator
  • Office of Expatriate staffs and international student’s affairs coordinator
  • Office of Library Services Executive 
  • Office of College Managing Directorate
