ASTU inks MOU With Mada Walabu University, Adama Industrial Park( AIP) and Industrial Project Services ( IPDC-IPS)

The training has been held from March 17–21, 2025, focusing on professional ethics, trust building, and enhancing employee engagement to promote organizational excellence and support ASTU's achievements in its pursuit of autonomy.

In his opening speech, Dr. Lemi Guta, President of Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), remarked, “in addition to professional ethics, trust building, and employee engagement, the major activities accomplished by ASTU over the past six months, as well as the progress made toward autonomy, would be discussed”.
Dr. Lemi hopes that participants will explore the principles of ethical conduct and their application in their roles as educators and researchers. “These training topics are crucial as ASTU strives for organizational excellence and works toward its ultimate goal of autonomy, the president added. Achieving autonomy is not just a milestone; it is a transformative journey that empowers us to set our own academic standards, innovate curricula, and respond more effectively to the needs of our students and the community,” Dr. Lemi explained. According to the president, in addition to its commitment to autonomy, ASTU places a strong emphasis on program accreditation. To this end, he expressed optimism that all our programs will achieve international accreditation soon.
During the training, Mr. Daniel Bayera from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences delivered an insightful session on the nature of trust building. He emphasized that leaders are measured by their ability to turn vision into action.
Another presenter, Dr. Abebe Shawul, Associate Dean for Research and Technology Transfer at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, gave atraining on enhancing employee engagement for organizational excellence. Dr. Abebe provided an overview of employee engagement and initiated discussion points on improving commitment at ASTU, which was addressed in follow-up discussions.
Dr. Edo Rago, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Science and Dr. Solomon Alemu from the same college were also among the presenters. Dr. Edo focused on professional ethics, while Dr. Solomon highlighted ASTU's journey toward becoming an autonomous university, including the activities accomplished and the path forward.
The training event also included visits to the university's ongoing mega projects.
