Academic and research staffs at Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) visited various development projects on campus. The visit was organized by the ASTU President’s Office as part of training and consultative meeting organized for the academic staff, and research assistants across its colleges from March 17 to 21, 2025. Led by the university’s senior management, the tour covered major ongoing infrastructure projects.

One of the key sites visited was ASTU Community School, which spans 5.2 hectares and features modern facilities. The school provides education from daycare to high school, primarily serving the children of university employees. Having been in operation for two years, it boasts comprehensive infrastructure designed to support a high-quality learning environment.
Another significant project is the ICT Data Center, which is expected to become operational within a month. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced network systems, data servers, storage solutions, and other essential applications. Additionally, it includes specialized service rooms, such as a Senate meeting room, and features a multi-power source for uninterrupted operation.
Participants also toured a research park, and a multi-purpose hall. The six-story research park, being furnished with cutting-edge technology and laboratories imported from Korea, is set to be fully operational in the coming months. It also includes guest houses and other amenities for researchers.
Meanwhile, the newly constructed conference hall can accommodate more than 2,400 people and includes ample parking space, a restaurant, and a lounge. The Hall, which is the second-largest venue in Adama City After the Aba-Geda Conference Hall, is expected to go operational within a year.
Other inspected infrastructure projects included the newly renovated university registrar’s office buildings, a 10.4-km asphalt road on campus, and a business center located in the heart of Adama City, in a specific area commonly known as Franco.
Once these mega projects become fully operational, they will enhance ASTU’s existing capabilities and contribute significantly to the university’s goal of achieving autonomy.
Office of the President has successfully completed the training and consultative meeting it organized for the teaching staff and research assistants from its five colleges.
