Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) convened a successful validation workshop for the research project entitled "Technology Need Assessment and Strategic Roadmap for the ICT, Trade, Transport and Environment sectors of Oromia Regional State" on May 2, 2025, at the Dire International Hotel in Adama, Ethiopia.

Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) successfully hosted the 2nd National University Teachers' Forum on October 7, 2025, at Oda Nebe Hall, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Teachers’ Association (ETA), under the theme: “We Work for University Education Quality.”
The forum brought together university scholars and educators from across Ethiopia to celebrate their contributions to higher education and to discuss the expectations, responsibilities, and challenges faced by university teachers today.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Yohannis Benti, President of the Ethiopian Teachers’ Association, warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the pivotal role of higher education institutions in shaping future generations. He called on the government to pay greater attention to key issues affecting educators, including increasing workloads, rising living costs, and the persistent shortage of qualified teachers. He also stressed the importance of regular professional development and training to enhance teachers’ skills and effectiveness.

During the event, a new Executive Committee of the University Teachers' Association was elected and expressed its strong commitment to advancing the interests of university educators and contributing to national development. The newly elected members are:
1. Dr. Demelash Mengistu, President – Jimma University
2. Mr. Wube Engidaw, Chief Secretary – Bahir Dar University
3. Dr. Shewaye Fatuma, Deputy Chief Secretary – Ambo University
4. Mr. Sisay Bekele, Public Relations Officer – Selale University
5. Miss Mahilet Aman, Education and Training Officer – Mizan Tepi
University
6. Mrs. Fetiya Miftah, Auditor – Arsi University
The celebration of the 2nd National University Teachers' Forum served as a powerful reminder of the crucial role educators play in shaping Ethiopia’s future. It also reinforced the need for continued support, policy reform, and investment in the teaching profession to ensure the quality and sustainability of higher education in the country.
