A high-level delegation from the Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU), led by its President Dr. Nigus Tadese, concluded a fruitful experience-sharing visit to Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) on October 11, 2025. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and explore best practices in university management, infrastructure development, and technological integration.

ASTU's President Dr. Lemi Guta warmly welcomed the delegation, highlighting the importance of such engagements in fostering institutional partnerships. In his opening remarks, Dr. Lemi provided an overview of ASTU’s activities and ongoing projects, reaffirming the university’s commitment to collaboration and expressing interest in a reciprocal visit to ECSU and formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Following the welcome remarks by the president, Mrs. Messay Mesfin, Strategic Planning Executive at ASTU, presented the delegate a general overview of the university. She outlined ASTU’s historical background, strategic vision, colleges, academic programs, centers of excellence, research initiatives, community service programs, ICT infrastructure, and modern facilities. She also emphasized the university’s progressive strides toward greater institutional autonomy.

A key point of interest for the ECSU delegation was ASTU’s notable success in renovating previously low-cost, poor-quality buildings, as well as its extensive greenery and landscaping projects. These achievements have been recognized by both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, as mentioned by a member of the visiting ECSU delegate. Dr. Lemi elaborated on these initiatives, particularly the green development along asphalt roads, before leading the guests on a guided tour of ASTU’s key facilities.

The delegation visited several sites, including the renovated main registrar building, the state-of-the-art ICT Data Centre, the ASTU Community School and daycare center, smart classrooms, and a professional multimedia studio. The tour showcased ASTU’s innovative approach to infrastructure development and technological advancement.

At the conclusion of the visit, the ECSU delegation shared positive feedback. President of the ECSU Dr. Nigus Tadese, expressed his deep appreciation for the warm hospitality and commended ASTU’s impressive facilities and achievements. He remarked on ASTU’s leadership in technology integration and noted its potential to serve as a model for other institutions. Dr. Tadewos Mentta, ECSU’s Vice President for Administration and Student Services, also praised ASTU, calling it "one of the most prestigious universities in Ethiopia."

The successful visit by the ECSU’s higher delegation sets a strong foundation for future collaboration between ECSU and ASTU in their efforts to enhance educational quality, problem solving research and institutional efficiency.
