Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) solidified its commitment to institutional excellence and accountability through performing key activities on October 26, 2025, as President Dr. Lemi Guta and the university vice presidents and their respective officials signed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) contract at the Pyramid Hotels and Resorts in Bishoftu.
 
The strategic signing event marks the formal agreement by the university leadership to meet expected success and efficiency in the current academic year.
 
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Lemi urged "all the managing council members to efficiently perform as per the agreement, stressing that the KPIs are essential tools for achieving ASTU’s long-term strategic vision.
 
The commitment to accountability was systematically cascaded through the university structure. Following the President’s signing, the three Vice Presidents and CEO of the president office have formalized agreements with their respective office heads. Accordingly:
 
Dr. Teshome Abdo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, signed KPIs with his College Deans, Directors and Executives.
 
Dr. Lema Beresa, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, formalized agreements with his Deans, Directors and executives.
 
Dr. Solomon Tiruneh, Vice President for Administration and Development, signed the KPIs with his Dean, and Executives.
 
Professor Yadesa Melaku, chief executive officer of the president office has signed the agreement with executive officers.
 
Following the contract signing ceremony President of ASTU Dr. Lemi Guta briefly explained the need of properly putting the key activities stated in the documents with greater responsibility. He also urged the Vice presidents to critically monitor and support the implementation of the agreement.
 
The managing council has also discussed the first quarter performance of the current academic year.
 
Mrs. Mesay Mesfin, Executive Officer of the Strategic Affairs office, presented the comprehensive report.
 
Appreciating the activities performed and the quality of the report, the discussants forwarded inputs to strengthen the report.
 
Finally, Dr. Lemi Guta called the council members and their respective offices to sustain the strengths observed and narrowing the gaps in the next quarter performance.
 
Bothe the signing of the KPIs and the thorough discussion of the quarterly performance are anticipated to be the driving factors in enhancing ASTU’s operational output and ensuring that academic, research, and administrative goals are met through measurable and transparent performance metrics.
