ASTU has organized an award and recognition ceremony for best researchers. On the occasion Dr. Alemu Dissasa, VPRTT, noted that the researchers were selected based on their contribution in research and publication. Accordingly, securing funds from national and international sources, publishing in renowned journals and serving as editors of international journals are the specific criteria used in selecting the best researchers.
Dr. Alemu stated that staff engagement in research, technology transfer and community engagement has shown significant increase in recent years.
The researchers have showcased their research experiences and publications. The ceremony was attended by the top management and academic staff members. In his opening speech Dr. Lemi Guta congratulated the researchers and appreciated the office of VPRTT for organizing the event. Dr. Lemi underscored that the staff engagement in research and community services has been increasing from time to time along with the introduction of enabling guidelines and conducive conditions. Dr. Lemi noted that the recognition and awarding ceremony will be an inspiration for ASTU staff and vowed to organize the ceremony every year.
The winners of the award are professor Aman Dekebo, Professor Abebe Belay and Dr. Demissie Jobir. The researchers have made significant contributions in ASTU by conducting, research advising students, conducting community services. They have been source of inspiration for ASTU community and beyond. The professors also took part in several national and international grant competitions wherein they have secured funds which helped masters and PhD students in research. On the occasion, best projects were also selected from each school and given certificates.
